The Marioff HI-FOG® high-pressure water mist system has been extended to protect high, atrium-type spaces, after passing full-scale fire tests at internationally recognized third-party laboratories and receiving VdS (Verband der Sachversicherer) type approval. It is now possible to protect OH1-categorized spaces with a single system. Marioff, a leading developer of water mist fire protection technology, is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.
High, atrium-type spaces have become increasingly popular in modern architecture, but they present specific challenges for fire protection.
“High spaces, such as halls, lobbies and reception areas are beautiful focal points that don't just look great – they tie together the many functions of buildings and are critical for business continuity. It's not just the height of these spaces, but also the use of delicate materials and aesthetics that present a challenge for fire protection. We are proud to present a complete solution to protect OH1-categorized spaces with a single cost-effective system,” said Francisco García, Business Development Manager, Global Land Business, Marioff.
The HI-FOG system can include a ceiling system or a sidewall deluge system. The ceiling system is VdS approved to a maximum 10-meter ceiling height. It uses the robust HI-FOG 3000 Atrium sprinklers.
The sidewall deluge system is compliant with EN 14972-1 and -10, providing protection for very high spaces, or when ceiling sprinklers cannot be used. The deluge system uses the new Atrium-specific HI-FOG 3000 spray head.
The HI-FOG high-pressure water mist system controls and suppresses fire by discharging a fine water mist at high velocity, creating significantly less water damage than traditional fire suppression systems.
