IWMA member Marrioff has announced:

"Delivery of our high-pressure water mist fire protection solution!

Our HI-FOG system is fully functional! We're proud to share that the safety commissioning was a success. The HI-FOG fire protection system has been discreetly integrated into the ‘forest’ of Notre Dame. Our team has worked wonders to help preserve it for future generations.

The HI-FOG system safeguards the wooden framework—the nave, the heart, the north and south transept arms, and part of the spire—ensuring that in the event of a fire, a fine mist will activate to control flames and reduce heat, creating safer conditions for emergency responders.

  • Preserving heritage for future generations
  • Advanced fire protection in action
  • Proud of the Marioff team’s work on this monumental project"

The cathedral in Paris is not the first object in the "water mist hall of fame", but it is the first world famous object which received a water mist system after a fire.

The friends of Notre Dame wrote about the fire:

"On April 15, 2019, a fire broke out under the eaves of Notre Dame Cathedral roof. The fire engulfed the spire and most of the roof. The fire began around 6:30pm local Paris time on Monday, April 15 and burned until the next morning Tuesday, April 16.

Fire engulfed the spire and most of the roof. Thankfully, firefighters were able to control the blaze, saving the main structure including the bell towers and rose windows. Nobody was injured, and the Catholic relics housed in the cathedral and priceless works of art were rescued and brought to safety."
