THE 24TH INTERNATIONAL WATER MIST CONFERENCE (#IWMC2025) ...

... will as always be brought to you by IWMA, the International Water Mist Association.

In 2025, this event will take place in Manchester, UK, on 24th and 25th September.

The event - which is recognized as the top source of the latest technical information on fire protection with water mist - will be as international as ever.

IWMA expects well over 120 delegates from all four corners of the world. Speakers will talk about the latest developments in the field of fire protection with water mist. The programme will be published on 1st July!

All attendees will get the chance to exchange ideas, to get updated, to network, to meet major researchers, manufacturers and distributors and to visit the exhibition which will run alongside the conference.

  • 16th December: Publication of the call for papers & publication of the sponsorship booking forms
  • 31st March: Deadline to hand in submissions to apply for The Ragnar Wighus Award 2025 / Ph.D.
  • 1st April: The ticket shop will open.& abstract deadline
  • 2nd June: The name of the winner of The Ragnar Wighus Award / Ph.D. will be announced & speakers will be notified about acceptance of their abstract.
  • 1st July: Publication of the #IWMC2025 programme
  • 23rd July: The invitation to the 2025 IWMA Member Meeting together with the draft agenda for the meeting will be circulated (from this point onwards members are invited to suggest topics).

HOW TO BOOK YOUR ROOM

The 24th International Water Mist Conference will be held at The Hyatt Regency Hotel in Manchester. As you may wish to stay in the conference hotel during the event, IWMA has blocked a number of rooms at a special rate for you.

PLEASE NOTE: To book your room please contact the IWMA head office / IWMC conference secretariat! Please write to info@iwma.net!

IWMA can offer a selection of contracted rooms at an attractive rate, lower than prices indicated on the official Hyatt Regency booking page. Please get in touch with IWMA / the IWMC conference secretariat to secure your room, stating your arrival and departure date!

There will also be rooms on allocation, also sold at a lower rate than what you will find on the official Hyatt Regency booking page. To obtain the booking code, please contact IWMA / the IWMC conference secretariat.

The rooms on allocations will be released six weeks prior to the conference. After that date, you will be required to take care of your accommodation yourself. All reservations will then be based on availability and the costs may be higher. However, contracted rooms may still be available!

Individual room reservations can be cancelled until 7 days before the date of arrival. In case of a later cancellation, no show or in case of early departure, the entire stay will be charged.

After the conference, all presentations (and if applicable papers) will be published on the IWMA webpage. If you do not want your presentation and/or paper to be published, please inform the IWMA head office by writing to info@iwma.net.

Please note: We would kindly ask you to hand in your abstract using the template which you can find HERE! If you would like to obtain the word-document, please write to info@iwma.net.

Please inform the IWMA head office in due time if you will be using the PC that will be provided or if you will use your own laptop. If videos are included, it is in most cases better to use your own computer. If you would like to use your own device, please also bring the necessary cables!

There will be a technician assisting you during the conference whom you can approach with your questions and requests! Please check if your presentation is showing and running properly well ahead of your time slot (e.g. during one of the coffee breaks).

No matter whether you choose to use the PC provided or not: Please bring your presentation on a memory stick and have it with you in the conference room!

Please stick to facts and figures and be the expert you are! The audience seeks knowledge and wants to be updated, they do not appreciate commercial presentations!

You may use the IWMA powerpoint template, but you do not have to. Please get in touch with IWMA and ask for the template. Please write to info@iwma.net!

Please check the programme a few days before the conference as the time of your slot may have changed. You can find the programme HERE! (from 1st July onwards).

The price of your ticket depends on whether you would like to submit a paper together with your presentation (400 € for presentation only / 300 € for presentation and paper).

Should you wish to submit a paper, please stick to the following specifications:

  • Use a graspable title that reflects the content of your paper and keep the message that you wish to convey in mind at all times
  • Ideally, the title of your paper should be identical to the title of your abstract / presentation. Should you wish to give your paper a different title, please mention in the subheading what abstract / presentation your paper is based on!
  • List all authors if more people than you have contributed to the paper
  • Structure your paper (introduction: introduce your argument / middle part / result: summary and outcome) … in the middle part you are free to use text passages, tables, diagrams, statements etc. that underline your message. Make assumptions, talk about limitations etc.
  • You may start your paper by inserting your abstract
  • Stick to academic honesty: when you make use of other’s ideas and thoughts, you must give them credit
  • Do not forget the bibliography (list of works cited)
  • There is no limit to the number of pages you may write, but sometimes less is more
  • Number your pages, number your passages and the words in your heading and subheadings should be in bold
  • Insert the name and date of the event at the bottom of all pages (23rd International Water Mist Conference – Antwerp, Belgium, 2024)

Please inform staff about bulky deliveries! And please let the hotel know in advance how many parcels you intend to ship to the conference hotel! They would also like to know the size of the parcels and the courier details!

And please make sure that deliveries will not arrive before 22nd September! (not more than 48 hours prior to the event)

The exhibition area is inside "The Bernstein Suite". The tables will be marked. Your parcels will be placed next to your table. The ceiling height is 3 metres.

The conference will take place in "The Rothwell Suite".

The set-up times for the exhibition are:

  • Tuesday, 23rd September 2025 between 19.00 and 21.00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 24th September 2025 between 7.00 and 9.00 a.m.

The space allocated to each sponsor will be approx. 3 square metres. The tabletops are rectangular and measure 183 x 76 cm. Two chairs per table / sponsor / exhibitor will be provided. Skirtings can be provided if you wish.

  • The exhibition will close on 25th September at 12.00 p.m.
  • The get-out must be completed by 4 p.m.
  • All sponsors must take care of the removal and / or reshipment of their goods!!!
  • Dismantling your stand before 12.00 is not allowed!

All exhibitors having booked a courier to pick up their materials are kindly requested to:

  • make sure that the courier collects the material within 24 hours after the end of the event!
  • label their materials - the company name and address must be clearly marked on each box!
  • let the conference team at The Hyatt Regency Hotel know about your arrangements!

Cancellation: If after registration you find yourself being unable to attend the conference, you may change the name of the attendee without any additional costs. Cancellation less than four weeks prior to the conference will be charged with 20% of the conference fee. Cancellation less than one week prior to the conference will be charged with 50% of the conference fee. There will be no refund if you cancel your registration later than 19th September (noon)!

Force Majeur: IWMA cannot be held liable for any event that may occur due to force majeur that may lead to changes of programme, cancellation of services and additional costs to attendees.

Data privacy policy: IWMA as organizer of the conference will use the attendees' data to process the registrations and to organize the conference. Registration / Acceptance of new members: Delegates may only register as members, and profit from the special prices which are reserved for IWMA members, if they have been accepted by the board AND have paid their membership fee.
