Only a few days into November, a car caught fire inside the KPE Tunnel in Singapore. Thanks to an installed water mist system the fire was under control even before the fire brigade arrived. The fire - involving the car's engine compartment - had activated the tunnel's fire suppression system. The fire was fully extinguished by VID Firekill's low-pressure water mist system.
Another positive result:
- nobody was injured!
Instead:
- other tunnel users could pass the scene of the fire,
- the firefighters were able to approach the vehicle safely and without any great issues,
- the tunnel itself remained in operation and
- the overall impact was minimal.
In July 2023, a simular incident occured: A car engine caught fire in exactly the same tunnel. Also then, the installed water mist system kept the fire under controll. Personell from the Singapore Civil Defence Force extinguihsed only the remaining flames.
