Elected during the 2025 IWMA Member Meeting

  

Antti Hurme replaces Markku Vuorisalo (both Marioff) as IWMA Director. Kemal Arsava is the new Chairman of the IWMA Scientific Council.

During the recent annual member meeting of the International Water Mist Association (IWMA), Antti Hurme (Director at Marioff) and Kemal Sarp Arsava (Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology) were elected to two of the association’s committees.

Antti Hurme is now a member of the IWMA Board of Directors. On having been elected, Antti said: “"I am honoured to have been elected to the Board of Directors of the IWMA. I look forward to contributing to raising awareness of water mist technology as a sustainable, reliable and effective fire protection solution. Together with my fellow board members, I am committed to supporting the association’s mission and promoting best practices across the industry". Antti follows into Markku Vuorisalo’s footsteps who will soon retire.

Also, Kemal Sarp Arsava his committed to doing his bit for the association. He said: “I would like to thank all IWMA members for their support and for giving me the opportunity to serve as the new Chair of the Scientific Council. As the council, we will continue to address the challenges related to water mist suppression systems in a scientific, objective, and unbiased manner. We are enthusiastic to develop educational resources for both aspiring and practicing Fire Protection Engineers, while actively engaging in joint industry research projects on water mist suppression systems.”
