EN 14972-2 published!

Work is underway on publishing the remaining Fire Test Protocols

At the beginning of July 2026, the fire test protocol for shopping areas for automatic nozzle systems was published. 

The EN 14972-series consists of part 1, which deals with the design, installation, inspection and maintenance of fixed water mist systems and - to date - 20 fire test protocols. Of these 20 fire test protocols, 15 - the majority - have been published. 

The fire test protocols that have not been published yet are: 

  • EN 14972-13: Test protocol for wet benches and other similar processing equipment for open nozzle systems
  • prEN 14972-18: Test protocol for local application involving flammable liquid fires for open nozzle systems 
  • prEN 14972-19: Test protocol for areas with combustible flammable liquids for open nozzle systems 
  • prEN 14972-20: Test protocol for data processing areas for automatic nozzle systems
  • prEN 14972-21: Test protocol for residential occupancies for electronically operated targeting nozzles  

EN 14972-13 is available. It has already reached the final CEN ratification and publishing stage.
