The longest road tunnel in Saudi Arabia is now open for traffic. The Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Tunnel is an impressive 2,430 metre tunnel beneath the vast expanse of King Salman Park.

Opened on 29th February 2024, the tunnel provides enhanced safety and efficiency for commuters with three lanes in each direction, accompanied by an emergency lane. Modern traffic management and safety systems, including state-of-the-art emergency services and evacuation routes, underline the commitment to ensuring a secure and seamless transportation experience.

This project is groundbreaking in itself and the fact that those in charge have decided to incorporate a water mist system indicates the way ahead for the technology but also underscores Saudi Arabia's dedication to innovation and safety in its transportation networks.

This integration of water mist technology also reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to the environment, creating a greener, safer future for its citizens.
