Yet again, a Ghent University graduate is the winner of the Ragnar Wighus Award. His name: Cédric van de Vondel. As it has become the tradition, the winner will present his master thesis at the annual international Water Mist Conference (#IWMC2024). The event will take place in Antwerp, Belgium, on 18th and 19th September.
Cédric van de Vondel says: "Winning this award for my thesis on numerical modelling of water mist is a tremendous honour. I'm grateful to my supervisor, Prof. Dr. Tarek Beji, and the IMFSE institute for their invaluable knowledge and support. I am excited to share my research and its potential impact on the water mist field."
The sponsor of the award is the International Water Mist Association (IWMA). In 2023, the award was renamed “Ragnar Wighus Award” in memory of the former and late president. Prior to that, the prize was called “IWMA Young Talent Award”. In 2016, IWMA bestowed the prize for the first time. The committee that evaluates the submissions is the IWMA Scientific Council under the chairmanship of Max Lakkonen (IFAB).
In 2025, the Ragnar Wighus Award will go to the author of the best Ph.D. thesis.
